FAYE CAMERON
Faye Cameron (nee Massina) passed away with family by her side on May 29, 2026, at Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 70.
Born and raised in Brandon, Faye graduated from Neelin High School in 1973, and a short time later would meet the love of her life Glen while attending Assiniboine College. They would embark on an adventure of 50 years that brought them three children and an angel baby, as well as numerous stories, laughs, tears and memories.
Mom spent many years in various pursuits and would often create or find the most elaborate gifts for others. Many times she could be seen giving tokens, toys, and “shiny things” to the people that meant so much to her. We asked Mom why that was so important to her, and she simply said “everyone needs a reason to smile”. That was one of Mom’s most endearing qualities, her willingness to make someone’s days brighter.
Not without her faults (as she would laugh), Mom was blessed with a bit of a “spirited” resolve. That spirit would serve Mom well through her later years, as health concerns mounted. She endured through those challenges with a familiar mindset we all came to know; “I’m ready to fight, and don’t tell me the odds”. With Dad in her corner up to her final day, she never, ever gave up the fight.
We were blessed to call her mother, daughter, wife, and then in 2009 and 2011, she earned the moniker that probably was her greatest achievement, being called Grandma. Mom loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Whether in the crowd at recitals cheering Brooke on, or helping develop the artistic skills in her granddaughter Hannah; a skill she herself was well known for. In every pursuit, Mom took it on full scale, there were never any half measures. She embraced it all, with the deserving title of Grandma being the ultimate display of that.
Mom had many wonderful days including being blessed to have her parents move back home later in life. They celebrated that reunion daily by visiting with their “Smitty’s family”. Never far from Mom's side were Glen and her faithful “sidekick”, her daughter Christine. Together, the five of them gained many more amazing memories.
We extend our thanks to Mom’s care team over the years, including two very special doctors; the late Dr. Suedrine Louw (Fourie) and Dr. Kara Wettig at Western Medical Clinic, along with the teams at the BRHC and outpatient facilities.
She will be forever remembered and loved by her husband Glen, son Shaun (Karol) with daughters Brooke and Hannah, Crystal (Dennis), and Christine, along with her loving parents Dave and Donna Wright. Left to celebrate alongside her family are many cherished friendships she made along the way.
At Mom’s request, no funeral service will be held. Instead, please consider giving to a charity of your choice, pay it forward with a kind gesture, or as Mom did so many times, find a way to give one more wayward animal a loving home! If you do this, you will have done Mom the greatest honour.
To paraphrase one of Mom’s favorites, Rod Stewart, “you filled our hearts with gladness, took away all our sadness, eased our troubles, that's what you did”, Thanks Mom, we’ll take it from here.
